MS. NEEDHAM's Classroom policies
2009-2010 School year

Students will be very engaged this year in many learning experiences. To be
successful they must keep up with the pace of the class, participate in daily
lessons and discussions, and complete all of their assignments on time.
In order to do this, they will need to be organized, and supported at home.

3- Ring Binders
In class, students will be taught several organization methods
beginning with keeping an organized binder to take back and forth from
school. Students will set it up in class, tab each subject,
use it everyday, and keep it organized!

Daily Planners
Students will also be required to track their assignments in a daily planner.
At the end of every day, classroom time is devoted to updating this planner.
Students will copy from a classroom master planner that is displayed on the
overhead. Students will record the daily work assigned,
and their due dates in their own planners.
They are expected to write in the dates of upcoming tests
and project due dates.

Parents Sign Planners
Students are expected to show their planner to their parents and obtain a
signature from them daily. Rewards are often given for signed planners and
occasionally consequences are given. I check off that planners have parent
signatures every afternoon! When planners come back unsigned, I wonder
students are showing the assignment information with their parents.

ASSIGNMENT WEBSITE
For additional information, students will update a daily classroom website,
eworldclassroom.com and schoolnotes.com.
These websites will have assignment information for viewing.

Student, Parent, Teacher Communication
Throughout the school year, parents and students may want more
communication in excess to the daily school day,
the planners, and the classroom websites.
Please feel free to write me notes in the student planner or email me.

My email is needhadj@hsd401.org.
I check my email account throughout the day
and will respond as soon as possible.

DURING DAILY CLASS TIME:
Please RESERVE PHONE CALLS TO EMERGENCIES!
Although I have received phone calls during the school day,
I prefer not to be contacted by phone during class time.
Phone calls can be very disrupting to students and the classroom learning
environment. For that reason, please limit calling during the day to
emergencies. In that case, call the main school number
and the secretary will contact me and the student.
I do check for phone messages before and after school.
If you want to communicate with me during the day, please email me!
THANK YOU!
